About Me

Kirsten Jean Sowers is a country/pop singer, songwriter and musician. Born in 1999, she began performing at the age of 7.  In 2010, Kirsten made her television debut on the NBC 10! Show in Philadelphia. Since then, she has continued to appear on numerous TV channels.  Kirsten has performed nationwide including Philadelphia, Nashville & Los Angeles.

At age 10, Kirsten met Russell Newberry, a deckhand on the television show the Deadliest Catch.  When Russell discovered that Kirsten played guitar, he introduced her to his friend, Mark from Operation Troop Aid.  Operation Troop Aid was auctioning off a celebrity guitar signed by Loretta Lynn, Garth Brooks, Lady Antebellum, Charlie Daniels, and many others.  Mark asked Kirsten to perform, and when she finished, Mark was so impressed that he pulled out a sharpie and asked Kirsten to sign the celebrity guitar!

As an active member of Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), in July 2011, Kirsten was one of the youngest participants in the NSAI Song Camp, in Nashville, TN.  She performed at the Commodore Grille during the Camp.  Also in July, she performed at the TD Performing Arts Center in Sewell, NJ as part of a Ticketmaster Event for the Freedom Gives Back Tour.  Kirsten opened for Bruce in the USA, the World’s #1 Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band, to help raise funds for wounded soldiers.  Kirsten was also honored to appear in Martin Guitar Company’s The Sounding Board, Volume 31, which stated she “is emerging as a natural musical force and talent."

Later in 2012, Kirsten entered the Texaco Country Showdown, a national songwriting competition.  She performed at the Semi-Final with her original song, “Tell Me”.  She was also named the Featured Performer of the Week with over 13,000 hits to her profile page in one week!

Kirsten released her first professional recording studio single on iTunes in May 2013, at age 13. Kirsten continues to perfect her songwriting, guitar and vocal skills and continues to work with her charity, Kirsten Kares Foundation.  She is currently recording additional songs at MilkBoy the Studio.

Throughout 2014, Kirsten has progressed to opening for Nashville recording artists such as the Charlie Daniels Band & Jason Michael Carroll.  She still enjoys performing at some of her favorite venues such as Ryan Seacrests' The Voice at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USS Battleship New Jersey, The Riversharks Baseball Team, World Café Live, Wall Stadium Speedway, Bridgeport Speedway, Hershey Amusement Park, The NJ State Freedom Fest Fair, Grandview Speedway, WXTU 92.5’s Country Fest at Elmwood Park Zoo and the Philadelphia Zoo.

In 2015, Kirsten was diagnosed with a desmoid breast tumor, which resembles sarcoma breast cancer.  She had to undergo three surgeries, including a mastectomy.  She was also diagnosed with Dysautonomia, a neurological condition effecting every part of Kirsten's body.

After a year of fighting and trying to get healthy again, Kirsten finally performed her first event on 3.12.16 at the "Shake Your Shamrock" 5K by singing "The National Anthem."  She is excited to get back to work and continue her musical career.

Today, she remains very focused on her studies.  She has always been a straight-A honor student, and she is looking forward to applying to colleges next year.
